Claiming they are well-organized and united, the Democratic Party yesterday unveiled its partial list of candidates who will join the tight race for the 18-seat House of Representatives in the coming midterm elections in November.

According to Herman Guerrero, vice president of the Democratic Party, the candidates who possessed the best qualifications were chosen following consultations with people.

The breakaway group of former Gov. Froilan C. Tenorio will not in anyway affect the chances of the Democratic Party to get the much needed votes in the coming polls, he added.

The former government, who quit the Democratic Party early this year, has formed his own Reform Party.

Disharmony in the party led to the defeat of the former governor in the last three-way gubernatorial contest in which incumbent Gov. Pedro P. Tenorio won despite eight years of absence from the political arena.

“Certainly, we will give the Republican Party some competition. We are giving the people a choice. In the final analysis, they will make the decision on who they want to put in the Legislature,” said Guerrero.

In Precint 1 (6 seats) – incumbent Rosiky Camacho, Brigida De Leon Guerrero Ichihara, Florencio (Bobby) T. Guerrero Pan, Former Rep. Antonio Muna Camacho, retired principal Frank De Leon Guerrero Demapan and Juan Cepeda Tudela.

Precint 3 (6 seats) incumbent Rep. Timmo Olopai, Isidro (Sid) Atalig Sablan and Luis Salas Camacho.

Guerrero said the Democratic Party has been meeting regularly to ensure the victory of its candidates. The Central Executive Committee, which is composed of precint representatives, held consultations with voters to determine candidates.

“The process is very much different from the previous years where candidates are merely hand-picked by party officials,” said Guerrero.
