Embattled Public Safety Commissioner Charles Ingram’s case is now under investigation by the Attorney General’s office in what appears to be a move to come up with impartial accounts of his alleged run-in with the law.

Gov. Pedro P. Tenorio said yesterday that he has instructed the AG to look deeper into the allegations and submit a report to his office before actions can be taken.

“If the allegations are facts or whatever, then something needs to be done,” he told reporters, without elaborating.

The governor also disclosed that he has not received any formal request for an independent probe which Sen. Edward U. Maratita, chair of the Senate Committee on Judiciary and Governmental Investigations, has asked to ensure fair outcome of the investigation.

“I haven’t received a letter from Sen. Maratita,” Tenorio said. “I referred that matter to the Attorney General and (the AG) is now looking into those allegations.”

But the chief executive assured actions will be taken by the administration once the probe is completed, depending on the AG’s recommendations.

“You have to find the reason and when you investigate something, whatever the outcome of the investigation, then the decision will be made based on the report that the investigator has found,” he said.

Ingram has come under fire over charges that he almost struck down a pedestrian along Beach Road in Chalan Laulau at dawn last Sunday due to reckless driving.

The DPS chief was not stopped by responding police officers, who were informed about the incident, but Ingram reportedly was making a call on his cellular phone when they saw his government car parked in Chalan Piao a few minutes later.

The department’s Internal Affairs has been called to investigate the incident, but it has yet to come up with any report.
