Most of the planting has been done within the newly constructed wetland in American Memorial Park, and the Division of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is thanking all community organizations and businesses that have helped make the project a big success.

“We received a lot of help,” said organizer Albert Guerrero, “and these people need to be recognized.”

The Hyatt Regency Hotel and its staff, Marianas High School science students, and the CNMI Clean-up Brigade all volunteered time and much effort with the planting of wetland vegetation at the site.

DEQ also thanks the following agencies for providing technical assistance to the project: the Division of Lands and Natural Resources Forestry Division; the National Park Service; and the United States Fish and Wildlife Service.

“The success of this important environmental project would not have been possible without help from these people and organizations,” said Guerrero.
