The Division of Sports & Recreation of the Department of Cultural and Community Affairs yesterday appealed to the public to refrain from misusing outdoor basketball courts.

In a press release, the division said the government spent $10,000 for the synpave surface of each of the basketball courts in Gualo Rai, Chinatown, Garapan, Oleai, San Antonio, and Koblerville.

The agency issued the reminder in light of reports on the improper use of the basketball courts.

“It was the taxpayers money that renovated the courts so let’s use them the way (we) should (to help maintain them in proper condition,” the division said.

According to the sports and recreation division, vehicles, bikes, rollerblades, and activities that require stage, tables and chair are not allowed on the court.

The division is asking the public to report to their office any incident of misuse of the basketball court.
