Days Of Wine And Roses opens second weekend of performances
The Marianas High School/Friends of the Arts production of Days of Wine and Roses will have its final three performances on Friday and Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinee at 3:30 p.m.
The play is an exploration of the effects of alcoholism on a family, and features Susan Fishman and Roy Rechebei in the leading roles. Students of Hal Easton’s MHS drama class are both in the cast and working as stage hands. Other members of the community, including the youngest actress to grace the stage on Saipan, Victoria
Ann Tudela Cabrera, have key roles in the production which has been very favorably received by those who attended the play so far.
As an added part of the production, following the performance on Sunday afternoon, there will be a guided discussion of alcoholism by local authorities with members of the audience who would like to find out more about this disease which is a problem in the community.
This is part of a series of plays exploring family crisis that have an impact on the community. The first, Steel Magnolias, dealt with the pains of diabetes. The next one, The Boys Next Door, will explore the issue of disabilities in the family. This will be produced in the Spring. The Northern Marianas Council for the
Humanities has provided additional support for the series.
Tickets are available at the door at $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for students and those under 18. Everyone is welcome to the MHS Theater which faces the main entry road and the large bus shelter. It is marked by colored spotlights at the door for the evening performances.
