Hyatt Regency Saipan brings early Christmas spirit to the island. Approximately 60 sculptures will brighten the evening’s sky to decorate the roadside along the main gate of the American Memorial Park to the entrance of the Hyatt Regency Saipan and also within the hotel itself.

Hyatt Regency Saipan, known for its beautiful landscape, has mounted 40 different sculptures within the hotel and 20 sculptures along the side of American Memorial Park.

The sculptures have been designed and structured internally by the hotel’s Engineering Department, headed by Mohammed Jiffy.

Mr. Jiffy himself designed and sketched all of the sculptures which include palm trees, Latte stones, dolphins, Caribou and Santa Claus. The main attraction of the sculptures are the huge Caribou standing at the hotel’s entrance and the Santa Claus on his sleigh floating in the hotel’s pond.

The display of beautifully lighted sculptures with the theme “Christmas in the Tropics,” is a part of the Illumination Project coordinated by the First Lady’s Task Force through MVA as a part of its Millennium Project. The Millennium project is a joint partnership with the CNMI government and the private business sector designed to promote the Northern Marianas and to attract overseas visitors to the island. The objective of the Illumination Project is to decorate Saipan for the Christmas season and welcome the year 2000.

Mustafa Issa, general manager of Hyatt Regency Saipan, says this year’s Christmas Light Decoration Project is much larger in scale compared to any of the previous years as Hyatt is an active participant in the First Lady’s Project “We are happy to be a part of the First Lady’s Illumination Project which is designed to promote the island and to entice repeat visitors to the islands,” Mr. Issa says.

The Illumination Project, itself a part of the government’s Millennium Project, coincides with the Hyatt Regency Saipan’s Millennium Project to raise funds for the Children for the Charity Sweepstakes Campaign.

Hyatt Regency Saipan in conjunction with the CHC Volunteers Association is running a campaign to raise money to help the needy children of the world. The charity sweepstakes campaign also offers many wonderful prizes, including the all new 1999 Volkswagen Bug displayed in the lobby of the hotel.
