The Refaluwasch Golf Association held its Ace of Aces Championship tournament last Saturday at the Laolao Bay Resort. It was the game to determine the one member player who could swing within himself, handicap and all and not allow his mistakes to exceed what his handicap covers. Jesse Stol played well within his 12 handicap cushion and his gross score of 79 netted him a score of 67 to take home the R.G.A. Cup for the 1999 season.

The champion also walked away with a lot of cash, free membership and a paid registration fee in a major tournament of his choice.

Just a single stroke behind is Joe Demapan, breathing down Jesse Stol’s neck like a tiger closing in on a kill. It was not to be, as Joe twice went out of bound from off the tee box. Still he managed to hold it together the rest of the way to finish with a gross score of 79 which netted him a 68 and second place. That’s why they call him Mr. Consistency. Matching Joe’s gross score of 77 is Serafin Pobble whose 8 handicap netted him a 68 and third place.

Probably the biggest surprise for the year is Joe Mafnas winning the low net score for the season, especially since he couldn’t break 90 in the last two tournaments.

A special seniors award went to Tony Taitano. Two monthly aces did not show up for the final event.

R.G.A. members are informed that the qualifying round for the January Ace will be held at 6:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 31, 1999 at the Marianas Country Club.

Reservations are available for 16 players. Members are reminded to submit their annual membership fee of $50.
