9-year-old, 4 others injured in road mishap
Five persons, including a nine-year-old girl, were injured in a car collision near the Shell gas station in Dandan Monday night, according to a report from the Department of Public Safety .
Police rushed the victims to the Commonwealth Health Center. One of them suffered fractured sternum and was admitted to the CHC, as well as the nine-year-old girl.
Some of the victims suffered minor contusions and abrasion.
DPS identified the victims as Antonia DLG Villagomez, 28; Bobbie Villagomez, 38; Rhonda Henry, 21; Sonny John, 18; and the nine-year old girl who sustained lacerations on her head and a fractured femur.
Initial investigations showed that a 1999 Nissan Sentra was heading east toward San Vicente when it collided with the 1996 Toyota Corolla. Police said the Corolla, which was heading west, entered the left lane and continued on “regardless of the red light” and crashed with the Sentra.
Tourist nabbed for shoplifting
An $18 lighter sent a Korean tourist to jail after allegedly trying to sneak the item from the Duty Free Shoppers Galleria in Garapan Monday night.
Police said Jong Hoon Lee, a 51-year-old Korean tourist, was observed through the DFS surveillance camera to have taken a “Zippo” lighter and attempted to leave the premises without paying for it.
Mr. Jong was apprehended by the company security guard and brought to the security office where the police was summoned. He was placed under arrest for theft.
Employee collared for theft
Police arrested 19-year-old Jay B. San Nicolas for allegedly stealing $70 from a gaming center in Susupe where he works. Police said $70.00 was stolen from the establishment’s cash fund. This case is under investigation by the Criminal Investigative Bureau.
2 Chuukese hurt in road accident
A 29-year-old Chuukese national sustained injuries when hit by a sedan along 2W Highway across Sunny Wholesale Sunday night, police reported yesterday.
Kimitoshy Willy suffered minor laceration on his chin, abrasion on the right side of his forehead and cheek, and sored right ribs. He was rushed to the Commonwealth Health Center where he was given first aid treatment.
Police records showed Willy was walking across the highway from the Sunny Wholesale when a southbound 1998 four-door Honda sedan hit him.
Traffic police are now investigating the case.
In a related incident, 19-year-old Tepora Konrat, Chuukese, suffered minor injuries when hit by car driven by 44-year-old Kazuko Sasagawa Lizama along 16 Highway in As Terlaje.
Police said Ms. Konrat was crossing the highway by Kevin’s Video when she was struck by the 1998 Toyota Corolla driven by Mr. Lizama.
Ms. Konrat sustained abrasions on her forehead and was transported to CHC where she was treated and released.
