Dandan Elementary School gets computers
There is something students of Dandan Elementary School can look forward to when they go to class beginning today.
The Parents-Teachers Association of DES donated seven complete sets of computers to the school Friday in order to expose the students early to new technology.
The equipment will be made available for hands-on use by fourth, fifth and sixth grade students, according to DES-PTA treasurer Mark B. Quitugua.
The computers were purchased from funds raised in a series of projects undertaken by the school’s PTA. Mr. Quitugua said MEGAbyte Computers Inc. provided the association a special discounted price for the equipment.
At the same time, DES acting principal Andie Dela Cruz said the school administration is exploring the possibility of eventually hooking up the computers to the Internet.
Ms. Dela Cruz said plugging in the equipment to the cyberspace would help both DES teachers and students in their researches and other similar projects.
Until the equipment has been connected to the Internet, the computers will be used by teachers in typing test questions and the students in preparing school projects.
