Manny Sablan went 3 for 3 with a single, a double, and a triple, and Greg F. Camacho hit two two-run inside-the park homerun and Tony C. Camacho blasted a three-run homer as the Stevedore Mauleg made it two in a row for their third win in nine games with an 18-17 thriller over the G.T.E Pacifica.

After G.T.E came up with four runs in the top of the first, the Mauleg then took the lead for good in their bottom half with five runs highlighted by Tony Camacho’s three-run shot. They went on to outscore G.T.E 12-3 in the next three innings for a commanding 17-7 lead after four complete.

Needing a run to continue the game, G.T.E did more than that with a late inning rally outscoring the Mauleg 10-1 but came up a run short of tying the ballgame for their fourth loss in 11 games.

Ned Norita and Manny Evangelista each went 3 for 4 in a losing cause. In their game last week against the Islanders, a 23-10 blow-out, Tony C. Camacho and younger brother Chris became the first two brother combination to hit the cycle in one game in fastpitch league history with Tony going 6 for 6 and Chris going 5 for 6 with both hitting two doubles, a triple, and a homerun with five RBI’s a piece and four run scored to lead the Mauleg’s attack.

The second game of the night showcased a surprise when the Islanders trailing 8-0 in the top of the second, pulled one out of their bag of tricks sending veteran softballer Larry Tenorio to the mound to replace older brother Manny.

The younger Tenorio, who has never pitched in all his years in the fastpitch softball, shocked everyone winning his career debut allowing just two runs on five hits in 5 2/3 innings as the Islanders rallied from an 8-0 deficit for a come-from-behind 15-10 victory.

While Tenorio was holding down the Waves, Ben Duenas, Ron Benavente, Jess Stein, and Reno Celis then came alive combining for 11 of the Islanders’ 15 hits enroute to 15 runs for the win.

Duenas, Benavente, and Stein each had three hits and Celis hit his league leading sixth homerun, a solo shot in the bottom of the sixth to highlight the Islanders eight-run come-from-behind rally.

The win improved the Islanders’ record to 6-5, dropping the Waves to 2-9.
