The Northern Marianas Islands Chapter of the American Red Cross announces that Shell Marianas has again agreed to support the 14th Annual American Red Cross Walkathon as a major donor for the event.

“For the past few years, we have been able to count on Shell Marianas to support this event and the work of the Red Cross, our utmost thanks are in order for their continued commitment to the humanitarian work of the Red Cross here in the Northern Marianas”, said executive director Cassandra Ely.

The Red Cross Walkathon is slated for Saturday, March 18, 2000, and will begin and end at the 4H building at Kilili Beach Park. The walk will be for a total distance of 10K and will follow the Beach Road Pathway.

Shell Marianas will also be manning an aid station along the route and assisting the Red Cross in promoting the theme of “Carnival” for this year’s event.

“There will be clowns, mimes, face painting, a batting cage, a dunking booth and many, many other activities for the participants to enjoy for free after their walk. It is the sponsors and many donors such as Shell Marianas that are helping us to make this year more fun than ever for the participants,” explained Ms. Ely.

Walkathon forms are available at any of the Shell stations and more information on prizes and the Walkathon details can be obtained by calling the chapter office at 234-3459.
