The Superior Court yesterday sentenced to five years imprisonment David C. Sablan, all suspended except two, in connection with the aggravated assault of a nonresident worker a year ago.

Mr. Sablan, who admitted his participation in the crime, was ordered to share with his co-defendant Kevin Iginoef restitution amounting to $30,619.68.

Court records show that the two men took turns in beating Jojo Diaz, 35, a Filipino, with a baseball bat and a flashlight, causing severe head injury to the victim.

Mr. Diaz, an aircon mechanic, went to Grand Hotel with a friend for a drink where he had an altercation with the bartender. He was later on led to a beach party where Mr. Iginoef and Mr. Sablan were already waiting to assault him.

The victim suffered a fractured skull and injuries in other parts of the body. After undergoing operation at the Commonwealth Health Center, Mr. Diaz was brought to Manila for therapy.
