The DARE Program, which is under the Office of Special Programs (OSP), is having its 1st Annual DARE Jamboree on April 8, 2000 at Micro Beach.

The Jamboree will start off with a parade at 8:00 a.m. from Carolinian Utt to Micro Beach followed with ceremonies and entertainment for the whole day. Kids rides and games along with booths from different participating schools will be available for the public.

The DARE program has been an ongoing program that runs for eight weeks and targets mainly 6th graders from all elementary schools to teach them the harmful effects of drugs and to stay away from drugs and violence.

“It is and ongoing fight against drugs and violence,” says Sandy Hambros, instructor of the DARE Program.

According to Arnold K. Seman, chair of the 2000 DARE Jamboree, next month’s event promises to be a fun-filled day for kids and adults. (Lucy Rosario)
