Suspect in killing of guest worker nabbed

Police arrested Dwayne Manibusan Sibetang, 28, in connection with the killing of a Chinese nonresident worker at Coco Garden in Capitol Hill last Thursday.

Police arrested Dwayne Manibusan Sibetang, 28, in connection with the killing of a Chinese nonresident worker at Coco Garden in Capitol Hill last Thursday.

Mr. Sibetang is now facing charges of murder and assault with a dangerous weapon for the slaying of Ma Dong Che, who was found lying in a pool of blood in his staff house.

Police said Mr. Ma sustained a deep stab wound on his upper left chest. Another Chinese, Li Xing Fan, was injured at the scene of the crime.

Superior Court Judge Timothy H. Bellas did not recommend any bail.

Based on a police report, Mr. Li, a roommate of the victim, was awakened when he heard a moaning sound. When he got up, he saw Mr. Sibetang on top of his friend, holding a knife on his right hand.

Mr. Li rushed to Mr. Sibetang and grabbed the knife. As he struggled to get the knife, Mr. Sibetang allegedly shouted “money, money, money.”

The medics who responded to the call Mr. Sibetang walking down the hill with what appeared to be blood on his hand. Immediately, Capt. Delbert Sablan went to the residence of Mr. Sibetang in Capitol Hill where he invited the man to the police department.

During the investigation, Mr. Sibetang admitted that he was responsible for the stabbing incident at Coco Garden.

The police has found the weapon used in the killing of the victim.
