Oldest living person in NMI

Whoever says growing old will never be a welcome news should be mistaken.

For Mrs. Consolacion Flores Fleming, having witnessed the growth of the Northern Marianas since the early part of the last century could already be reason enough to say that she has lived a complete life.

But being able to witness the dawning of the new millennium and embrace the technological and economic development that comes with it is more than just an ordinary bonus.

In recognition of her contribution to the growth and development of the CNMI community and for being the inspiration for many indigenous peoples of the Northern Marianas, Mrs. Fleming is adding another feather on her cap as she officially assumes a title bestowed to very few people.

The CNMI government is now laying the ground work to recognize the 99-year-old Mrs. Fleming as the Oldest Living Person in the Northern Marianas.

Mrs. Fleming, who hails from the Tinian village of San Jose, will be conferred the recognition akin to the celebration of the annual Mes Manamko.

Mrs. Fleming, who was born in Palau on March 6, 1901, is a mother to nine children. The grandmother of 43 children, she has 93 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.

She was married to Henry Gordon Fleming who along with their three children — Albert, Thomas and Henry — has joined their creator.
