Lib-Day concession applications due May 24
The 2000 Liberation Day Committee is tapping those who are interested in operating a concession during the month-long celebration to submit their application by May 24, 2000.
The Liberation Day celebration, which will run from June 9 to July 4, promises to be the biggest local celebration this century to date. The carnival grounds is expected to play host to a variety of concessions that will feature local delicacies, games for children and adults and rides for the young ones, and a variety of local entertainment nightly.
“The Liberation Day Committee is encouraging all members of the community to be part of this huge celebration,” said Agnes McPhetres, chair of the committee. “They can do so by operating a concession, supporting the Liberation Day candidates, participating in the parade, or simply by coming to the nightly carnival.”
The carnival activities, which are being held at the American memorial Park, have traditionally been a part of the annual Liberation celebration, in which the people of the Commonwealth commemorate the anniversary of the opening of Camp Susupe in 1946.
The Liberation Day Committee is also inviting those interested in operating a concession at the grounds to pick up concession applications from the Saipan Mayor’s Office in Afetna Square in San Antonio.
For more information, please call Ed Manglona, Concession Committee chair, at 236-6379, or the Saipan Mayor’s Office. Concession applications will only be accepted until May 24, 2000.
