SAIPANDA BIKE RACE RESULTS

Saturday’s Saipanda Bike Race was greeted with beautiful blue skies and a fair contingent of competitors. There was a total Of 9 participants for the family course and 34 participants for the professional course with two failing to finish due to flat tires.

The family course was approximately 5.4 miles and started and ended at the Marianas Resort with the turnaround at Banzai Cliff.

The professional course was approximately 12.6 miles and started and ended at the Marianas Resort with the route taking north of the La Fiesta Mall and into the Marpi Tourist Sites from the back area heading up to Suicide Cliff, Bird Island, Grotto and Banzai Cliff.

Participants were then treated to an awards banquet held after the race at the Marianas Resort poolside.

PROFESSIONAL COURSE (Male)

1st – Grant Beauprez – 41:44

2nd – Sean Henry – 44:26

3rd – Marc Dilomaso – 45:36

PROFESSIONAL COURSE (Female)

1st – Rena Carlson – 48:43

2nd – Della Dore – 51:07

3rd – Katherine Sinclair – 55:06

FAMILY COURSE (Male)

1st – Alexander Gozon – 16:54

2nd – Dan Fabian – 19:24

3rd – Lito Mendoza – 19:32

FAMILY COURSE (Female)

1st – Elaine Paplos – 28:09

Honorable Mention and prizes were also awarded to 11-year-old Rezne Wong and 6-year-old Andrew Nutting for being the youngest participants.

Proceeds for this event will go to Karidat, CNMI Youth Center for Music and the Performing Arts, and Crime Stoppers.

The Saipanda Bike Race was organized as part of the 2000 CNMI Tourism Month activities that was created to promote the tourism industry within the CNMI community.
