The Saipan Sports Fishermen’s Association (ssfa) anounced yesterday that it will be holding the 16th Annual Saipan International Fishing tournament on Aug. 12 and 13.

Organizers are expecting some 60 boats manned by over 100 captains and crews from Japan, Guam Rota, Saipan and Tinian, to participate in the yearly fishing competition.

The association advises interested participants that they will be conducting mandatory boat safety inspections as required by the Department of Public Safety’s Boating Division and the U.S. Coast Guard two weeks prior to the event. Individuals wanting to have their boat inspected during the week should contact the Boating Safety at 322-4037 for appointment.

To ensure the success of this year’s tournament, the association is once again selling advertisement spaces for this year’s event booklet.

Application forms and schedule of events are now available at the Marianas Visitors Authority office, Diego’s Mart and at the Fishing Tackle Shop.

For more information, please contact Wolf Mojica at 234-6615 or Martin Duenas at 664-3200/1.
