2-year-old in near drowning

A two-year-old-boy was plucked from the beach side in Chalan Kanoa Saturday afternoon by a fisherman who found the body floating in a one-foot deep water.

According to police reports, the fisherman, identified only as Pedro, fished out the boy who was almost lifeless.

The boy was only revived when his relative Mary Eleanor Kapileo, applied CPR. He was then rushed to the Commonwealth Health Center for treatment.

Man charged for possessing marijuana

Police arrested Jose Fitipol Rabauliman, 32, early Friday morning at J’s Restaurant in Gualo Rai for trying to extort money from a customer and for possessing a controlled substance.

According to DPS Information Officer Rose Ada, they received a complaint that Mr. Rabauliman was bothering one of the poker players asking for money. He even broke one of the door’s handle.

The police found marijuana when they frisked Mr. Rabauliman, who now faces charges of possession of a controlled substance and criminal mischief.

Husband almost killed wife

Thirty-two-year-old Joseph B. Cepeda is now facing charges of assault and battery for allegedly beating his wife who refused to give him money for poker.

Police reports showed that the Department of Public Safety received a call around 4:45 a.m. Sunday from Stanford Hotel, where Mr. Cepeda allegedly beat and threatened to kill his wife. The report did not identify the victim.

According to DPS, Mr. Cepeda choked his 31-year-old wife, pulled her hair and slapped her until she turned black and blue after she refused to give him money so he could play poker.

Charges of assault and battery have been filed against Mr. Cepeda by the Attorney General’s Office.
