The National Women’s Education Center of Japan has chosen Rosita Terlaje-Pangelinan, public information officer for the Governor’s Women’s Affairs, as trainee to the Training Course for Information Processing on Women’s Issues.

The Ministry of Education, Science, Sports and Culture and the NWEC are sponsoring the training from Sept. 10 to Oct. 19, 2000.

A committee established by the NWEC determined the selection of applicants. From the CNMI, Gov. Pedro P. Tenorio submitted three applicants to NWEC — Vanessa Ogo from Rota, Janet King from Tinian and MS. Terlaje-Pangelinan from Saipan.

The CNMI is fortunate to participate in this competitive training. Ms. Terlaje-Pangelinan is one of the six trainees selected from the Asia-Pacific region. The training aims to improve participants skills on analysis, summarization, and raise consciousness concerning women’s issues by using computer.

The Center will shoulder the roundtrip airfare, living expenses and operational costs for the training course. Selected trainees are required to write a country report on women’s issues and the flow of information on women with statistical data of their own countries.

The original country report has to be submitted to the NWEC by Aug. 30, 2000.
