Tinian ––Tomorrow at 6:30 p.m., the Tinian Gymnasium will be turned into the ultimate fighting dome when 16 world-class champion Muay Thai boxers will put their titles on the line in eight separate brutal fights.

The event, sponsored by the Tinian Mayor’s Office, Tinian Dynasty Hotel & Casino, the Marianas Visitors Authority and Caesar Sauna, is sanctioned by the Hon Kong-Macau Free Fighting Association and the Macau Kick Boxing Association.

This boxing event will be the first ever Muay Thai boxing event in the Marianas. Muay Thai Boxing is a full contact fight that uses the Nawa-attawut, or nine principal weapons of Muay Thai.

The nine weapons used in the fight are the head, fists, elbows, feet and knees. In addition, there are combination weapons which are the shoulders, arms and the bottom and outer ankles. The martial art was originally taught to the Thai military as a form of defense and then has blossomed into a world sport today.

Tickets for the event are $50.00 for bleacher seats and the CNMI and Guam residents get a 50 percent discount, or $25.000. Limited seats are available. Please call Tinian Dynasty at 328-2233 for ticket information.

Today, the Muay Thai fighters will hold a free clinic at the Tinian Gymnasium from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
