1st Game: Old Aces 64, Badtz Maru 61
First game was a tight game from the beginning up to the end of the final buzzer. Old Aces relying on the accurate shooting of Tony “Gomez” Lizama handed Badtz Maru their fourth set back of the season.
Tony “Gomez” Lizama pumped in 31 points, 2 rebounds and 4 steals. Tony Rogolofoi helped out Lizama by pouring in 10 points, 2 assists and 7 rebounds. Jack Diaz came up with 1 assist, 11 rebounds and 1 steal, while Dave Camacho grabbed 8 rebounds and a steal.
Joe Tudela was the leading scorer for Badtz Maru with 14 points, 1 assist, 12 rebounds and 2 steals. John Guerrero contributed 13 points, 2 rebounds and a steal, while Bruce Berline helped out with 9 rebounds and a steal in a losing cause.
Old’ Aces winning this game with a 64-61 decision over Badtz Maru.
2nd Game: NMC Fakpi 80, MBI/Doritos 67
NMC Fakpi improved their standings with a 4-1 record with a victory over team Doritos. NMC, relying on the Never Say Play of Lloyd Hartman, came from behind in the second half to defeat Doritos 80-67.
Hartman pumped in 28 points, 4 assists, 4 blocked shot, 18 rebounds and 2 steals. Ray Basa contributed 14 points, 3 assists and 6 rebounds. Gino Camacho also helped out by dishing out one assist, 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Camacho sank 2 consecutive 3-pointers to help his team get the lead for good in the last 3 minutes of the ball game.
Team Doritos was ahead most of the way and with a 12-point lead in the first 5 minutes of the ball game. Doritos run out of gas in the last 8 minutes of the ball when Lloyd Hartman started to take over the show.
Romy Grimpula scored 23 points, 1 assist, 1 blocked shot, 6 rebounds and a steal, while Orly Catayong contributed 9 points, 8 assists, 2 rebounds and 4 steals in a losing cause.
