The Division of Environmental Quality has raised the red flag in the following areas advising the public against fishing or swimming within 300 feet of these locations within the next 48 hours or until otherwise notified:

• Beach at Sugar Dock

• Hopwood School Beach

• Chalan Kanoa #2 District Drainage, and

• Ladder Beach

Samples collected from these sites contained excessive concentrations of at least one of the bacteriological indicators which exceeded the CNMI Marine Water Quality Standards. The bacteria can indicate the presence of human and animal waste in the water.
