2 poker robbery suspects freed on bail
Superior Court Presiding Judge Edward Manibusan has allowed the temporary release of robbery suspects Alvin Agulto Camacho, 27, and younger brother Alex, 23, from detention after they each posted a $50,000 property bond.
The two suspects were also released under the custody of their father Agustin T. Camacho.
Court records show that the two men were the principal suspects in the robbery of San Vicente Poker gameroom last Oct. 19, 2000. The two men were playing in the gameroom at around 2:00 a.m. when one of them complained to Myung Joo Kim that the machine was out of order.
Mr. Kim, who was the cashier at that time, inspected the machine when one of the suspects tried to strangle him while the other one emptied the cashier’s box.
Mr. Kim and another witness, Jou Eun Sook Kuen, said they later saw the two men fled the gameroom on board a red pickup truck.
Some $580 were stolen from the cashier’s booth. The Camacho brothers were later on identified during a police lineup.
Alex Camacho was one of the main suspects in the murder of a Filipino security guard at Hotel Nikko in 1995. Unfortunately, the suspects were released and never tried in court.
