The Saipan Youth Football League (SYFL) wants to remind the public that the best in youth football will be played out for your enjoyment on Saturday and Sunday at the Airport Sport’s Field.
Starting out the excitement tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. will be Peewee Level (9 to 11 years old) Western Warriors vs. the Eastern Eagles. Following that game at 1:00 p.m. is the Midget Level (12 to 14 years old) Western Warriors vs. the Eastern Eagles.
On Sunday, Nov. 5, at 10:30 a.m. the excitement continues with the Bantam Level (15 to 17 years old) Northern Cyclones vs. the Central Vikings, followed by the Western Warriors vs. the Eastern Eagles at 1:00 p.m.
As a review last weekend, the Bantam Western Warriors lost to the Central Vikings the first game and then there was an exciting win by the Bantam Eastern Eagles over the Northern Cyclones, 14 to 0 in the second game. The winning touch downs on the Eagles’ side were made in the first quarter by #10 John Reyes Jr. and a safety by #28 Keonie Ichihara. The second quarter saw another safety, this time by #10 John Reyes Jr. and the final touchdown in the fourth quarter was made by #28 Keonie Ichihara.
Last Sunday saw the Central and Northern Peewee and Midget levels battle it out. During the Peewee game it was through tough teamwork and the outstanding accomplishments of #31 Darryl Roligot who helped made three touchdowns in the first, second and fourth quarters with a safety in the first quarter to bring on a 20 to 6 win over the Peewee Northern Cyclones. The Cyclones’ valiant attempt to stem the tide of the Vikings onslaught was made by a second quarter touch by #75 Aitua Barcinas.
The following Midget game was a reversal of fortunes for the Cyclones and Vikings. This time it was the Northern team who marched down to the goal in the second quarter by #75 Joel Crisostomo, and then three more times in the fourth quarter with the extra point thrown in for good measure. These goals were made by #87 Timothy Torres, #89 Victor Concepcion and #63 by Luis Iguel for a final score of 25 to 6. Central attempted a rally during the third quarter when #30 Eric Taisacan made the Midget Vikings lone score for the game.
