Office of Vocational Rehabilitation Director Tee Abraham is seeking assistance from government leaders in gathering information that would lead to accurate assessment of the real needs of individuals with disabilities in the Northern Marianas.

OVR is set to issue this month phase two of its consumer satisfaction survey which will center on identifying how the rehabilitation center could further improve its services to the general public.

The agency earlier in the year already completed the first step of the needs assessment through the evaluation participated in by VR consumers.

The survey will be distributed this month to various community agencies where Ms. Abraham plans to tap the Carolinain Affairs Office, the Legislature, the Mayors’ Offices of Saipan, Tinian, and Rota to work closely with OVR for the initiative.

“This would be really useful in assessing the quality of services we are offering in terms of staff training, our relationship with our consumers, and other relevant data. We really want to see how much more we can uplift and improve the services we give to the community,” said the OVR Director.

OVR also underscored that data collected from respondents is highly useful in requesting for federal funds in support of rehabilitation projects.

Survey forms will be mailed out to the respondents anytime soon. According to Ms. Abraham, OVR has initiated steps to make sure that the agency gets the highest survey returns by pre-numbering the outgoing forms.

Follow-ups, either through telephone or other means, will be made by the OVR staff based on missing survey numbers not returned within the given survey time frame. The agency hopes to collect all filled out forms before the end of the year.

OVR, an agency created under a federal/state partnership, has been instituted to provide and facilitate direct services to people with disabilities in order to promote independent living, skills development and eventual employment.

Its mission is to increase employment and promote independence among eligible individuals with disabilities.

The series of programs and services offered by the agency is primarily centered on assisting businesses hire, develop, and keep valued employees.
