Public advised to stay away from Talafofo Falls
The Division of Environmental Quality analyzes water samples collected from Talafofo falls area. The samples collected from the following location contained excessive concentration of fecal coliform bacteria which exceeded the CNMI Fresh Water Standards:

High concentrations of fecal coliform may be the result of stormwater runoff due to storms. Fecal coliform bacteria are not usually disease causing. The bacteria can indicate the presence of human and animal waste in the water. Studies have shown the water runoff in tropical environments may also contain fecal coliform bacteria concerns, DEQ maintains its policy of advising the public not to swim within 300 feet of these locations until further notice.
