CNMI Girl Scouts hold investiture ceremony
After years of being dormant, the CNMI Girl Scouts has reorganized efforts to manifest its presence on the islands as some 180 participants from Oleai, Garapan, San Vicente, Mt. Carmel and Tanapag converged last Nov. 18 at the Multi-Purpose Center for an investiture ceremony.
The event was very significant for the Girl Scouts movement because it commemorates the true essence of scouting. The program included a candle lighting ceremony to emphasize and reiterate the Girl Scouts promise and law which is the very heart of girl scouting.
There were also scouts songs that added color the ceremony.
The highlight of the celebration was the pinning of the GS membership pins to all the girls by the parents, leaders, and volunteers.
Kim Prinz, the CNMI Overseas lone Troop Committee chair officially welcomed the scouts into the girl scouts organization.
She also gave the inspirational message.
Another highlight of the ceremony was the rededication of all the troop leaders. Flowers were used to symbolize their commitments anew for the cause of scouting.
Leaders present were Becky Scott, Alex Harmsen, Gingin Sleight, Cristina Con-ui, Jasylene Parico, Esther Surban, Sue Babauta, Matilde Diaz, Cynthia Iginoef, Margie McCarthy, Cheryl Soria, Cecilia Camacho, Lourdes Mariano, Joaquina Salas, Lodrigo Omar, Jennie Boller, Crystal Blahnik, Erika Nauman, Katharyn Tuten-Puckett, Evelyn Ooka and other supporters.
