6 Chinese workers sue employer

The Division of Labor has filed a civil suit before the Superior Court against American International New & Thriving Group Co., and its President Ke Quiang Lei for refusal to pay wages and liquidated damages of six non resident workers.

The Division of Labor has filed a civil suit before the Superior Court against American International New & Thriving Group Co., and its President Ke Quiang Lei for refusal to pay wages and liquidated damages of six non resident workers.

According to a complaint filed by Assistant Attorney General Harold L Pickering, the company has failed to pay the wages of Luli Tong ($3,931.20), Wen Ge Xu ($1,435.20), Yan Zhang ($3,417.20), Jing Chen ($3,345.20), Guiying Qin ($3,345.20) and Ying Zhao ($3,345.20) despite an administrative order earlier issued by the Division of Labor.

The complaint also asked American International to pay court litigation, statutory civil penalties in the amount of $500 per day, civil fines payable to the CNMI government in the amount of $3,000, reasonable attorney’s fees and prejudgement interest payable at the rate of nine percent a year from the date of the final administrative order was issued.
