Calvo’s launches health insurance for gov’t workers
Employees of the Commonwealth Government will have a new choice in health insurance, as Calvo’s Insurance will kick off their “Select Care” plans this week. The company will officially launch the December open enrollment period for their three new plans with a “Healthy Booth” at McDonald’s on Middle Road, Saipan today.
“People here have been asking for an alternative to the current government health insurance plans, so we’re very pleased to be able to introduce our insurance to the CNMI,” said Frank Campillo, manager of Calvo’s Life & Health Division. “Calvo’s is a trusted name in insurance and our plans are backed by Nichido, Japan’s underwriting giant with $22B in assets, so there won’t be any question of people getting the health care services they need, when they need them.”
From 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Dec. 1, Calvo’s will be at McDonald’s offering free breakfast sandwiches or hamburgers to the first 300 CNMI government employees and their immediate families who visit their “Healthy Booth.” There will also be free blood pressure checks courtesy of Saipan Health Clinic and Island Medical Center. The event will be broadcast live from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Power 99.
According to Mr. Campillo, an advantage of the plans is that Calvo’s covers a large network of medical providers in the CNMI, Guam, the Philippines, Japan, Hawaii and the Continental U.S.
There are flexible levels of health coverage to fit different family needs and budgets. The plans include comprehensive benefits and minimum co-payments. The Selectcare five- plan requires no medical referrals for off-island care to Calvo’s network of providers.
All CNMI government employees who sign up for the plan during the open enrollment period in December will automatically be entered into a drawing to win a 27-inch color television, which will be drawn at the end of the month.
Calvo’s is the oldest insurance agency in Micronesia, serving the islands for 62 years.
