Mobil Oil dislodges ARC
Mobil Oil takes number one slot in the Mobil Oil CoEd Basketball League standings.
Mobil Oil beat undefeated Aqua Resort Club in the curtain raiser of the Mobil Oil CoEd Basketball League with a score of 93-78 Saturday night Nov. 25, 2000 at the NMC Gym.
Aqua Resort played without the services of their center Chris Bojocan, forwards Arnold Arellano and Rico Aguirre, and guards Joel Subang, and Romie Manzon.
Mobil Oil capitalized on this situation as their scoring machine Danny Illahi pumped in 28 points to lead his team backed up by the high leaper Junar Guiab with 27 points.
Rodel Alcantara was the leading scorer for Aqua with 20 points and followed by Lady player Yukiko Uchiyama with 20 points.
In the second game of the night Tan Holdings handed team Hyatt their third defeat of the season.
Ronald Delos Reyes was the hitman for Tan Holdings with 20 points followed by Jerry Zamora with 19 points.
Alfonso Masga was the leading scorer for Hyatt with 19 points followed by John Palacios and Scott Baek with 13 points apiece.
Mobil Oil now leads the league standing followed by Aqua Resort, Tan Holdings and the Hyatt.
Meanwhile, CUC earned their first victory of the season over team PDI. PDI finished last in the team standings with a 0-6 record. CUC on the other hand finished with a 1-5 record.
George Poquiz led CUC with 24 points while Allan Lebria contributed 14 points. PDI was led by Ed Yalung with 21 points.
