A Bangladeshi national was brought to court yesterday for charges of assault and battery and rape by object for allegedly harming his girlfriend last Monday, Dec. 4, after she disclosed to him she had sexual relations with another man.

According to the case filed by the Attorney General’s Office, Kamruzz Jaman unlawfully struck and otherwise did bodily harm to his partner after they had an argument.

Chief criminal prosecutor Kevin Lynch told the Superior Court yesterday that Mr. Jaman, a security guard, forcibly inserted a plastic deodorant bottle inside the victim’s genitals.

Superior Court Judge Timothy Bellas has set the defendant’s cash bail to $25,000. The preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 14 at 9:00 a.m.
