David M. Sablan, chair of the Marianas Visitors Authority, who had resigned from hi post during last week’s board, announced yesterday that he has rescinded his decision.

In a letter to the MVA board of directors, Mr. Sablan stated that after extensive discussions with members of the Legislature and persuasion of certain members of the board, he has decided to stay and will remain on board until his term ends in August 2001.

Mr. Sablan said that one of his reasons for resigning was that he wanted to accord members of the board the opportunity to lead MVA. He felt that it was in the best interest of the industry to share the responsibility of leadership.

He further stated that his decision may have been a bit premature and that if the board members didn’t object, he will resume the chairmanship until further notice.
