The Issue: Three more days for Christmas as shoppers do last minute buying for Christmas Day.

Our View: Tell Santa it’s the holiday season and spending binge comes with it.

By now, we hope most of you are done with your Christmas shopping. Yes, this weekend would be awfully busy throughout local grocery and hardware stores, including the public highways..

Kids expect their presents from St. Nick and however kids they may be, they know exactly what they want from Santa. Some families practice gift exchanges right before Noche Buena. Others do it well in advance, while still others aren’t so fortunate and must do with the festive spirit of the Holiday Season.

For our friends who donated gifts for our young toddlers this Christmas, may the Lord bless you for your great sense of community. Giving is the true sense of the spirit of Christmas.

Tradition for the Misan Gayo (Midnight Mass) is still very strong in these isles. Most islanders would head to church for this special occasion. They will participate in the first veneration of the Baby Jesus then head to their elderly for their blessings. After all that is done, it’s party time where most families get together.

However festive the season when families and friends eat and drink up, we strongly suggest that you appoint a designated driver (DD) in the event you plan to party it up. We also strongly suggest that you stay away from the wheels of the family car. It’s not worth ruining your Christmas Day with DUI.

Plan your Christmas Day well so that we all enter and exit it nice and healthy as we prepare for New Year’s Eve. Finally, the staff and management of Saipan Tribune wish each of you a Very Merry Christmas! Felis Noche Buena para todos pago na haanen gupot!
