NMC-UoG future teachers graduate
Seven seniors have successfully completed all requirements in the Northern Marianas College-University of Guam baccalaureate degree program. Donna Leong-Aguon, Dominic Cepeda Camacho, Mary Grace Reyes Mendoza, Elizabeth Taisacan Nena, Robin Lizama Palacios, Paula Eve Tafoya-Sablan, and Marian Cabrera Tudela all successfully completed their student teaching practicum this Fall 2000 semester at NMC and will receive their B.A. degrees in Elementary Education this month.
Ms. Leong-Aguon is the daughter of Leslie and Florence Leong of Hawaii, is married to Thomas C. Leong-Aguon of Saipan, and has 5 children, Kaai, Kalani, Boss, Princess & Angel. A former President’s List scholar at NMC, she received her A.A. at NMC, graduating Summa Cum Laude, and has been elected a member of the University of Guam’s Chi Omicron Gamma Honor Society.
Mr. Cepeda Camacho is the son of Rosa C. Cepeda. He received his A.A. at NMC in Spring of 1998, and is 24 years old.
Ms. Reyes Mendoza is the daughter of Roy and Ruth Reyes. She is married to Michael Mendoza and has a son, Myron. A part-time employee at NMC’s Continuing Education Department, Ms. Reyes Mendoza has also been elected to UoG’s Chi Omicron Gamma Honor Society.
Ms. Taisacan Nena is the daughter of Martin and Matilde Taisacan of San Vicente, is married to Ronald Nena, and has a daughter, Martina. Ms. Taisacan Nena has been a Chamorro Bilingual teacher aide at Garapan Elementary School for the past six years, is looking forward to embarking upon her career as a 3rd grade teacher, and hopes to pursue a masters degree in Education.
Ms. Lizama Palacios is the daughter of Vicente and Suzanne Lizama, is married to Gus U. Palacios, and has two boys, Tyler and Damian. She is also a former President’s List scholar at NMC and plans to pursue her Masters Degree in Early Intervention in Fall 2001.
Ms. Tafoya-Sablan is the daughter of Paul and Mari L. Tafoya of California, is married to Melvin Boyer Sablan of Saipan, and has two children, Kayla Chanelle and Joshua Manuel. She received multiple A.A. degrees from NMC, graduating Cum Laude in 1998. Ms. Tafoya-Sablan plans to work in the Public School System and to pursue a masters degree at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Ultimately she plans to start her own private business.
Ms. Cabrera Tudela is the daughter of Jesus and Florida Cabrera. She is married to Lysander B. Tudela, and has two boys, Keoni and Ty. She is also a former President’s List scholar at NMC and has also been elected to the UoG’s Chi Omicron Gamma Honor Society. She to plans to pursue a Masters Degree in the future.
