Council of PTA undergoes reorganization
Beginning today, the Council of Parent-Teacher Association will be known as the Council of PTA Officers in yet another effort by its members to reorganize CNMI’s proactive parents and teachers after years of a relatively dormant existence.
The council is also scheduled to elect today its new set of officers who will lead members of the newly-revamped organization. Board of Education Parental Involvement Committee Chair Roman C. Benavente has been tasked to facilitate the election proceedings.
After today’s reorganization meeting at Pacific Gardenia, the council will strictly accommodate membership of individuals who are PTA officers at the school level, according to Mr. Benavente.
“We recognize that PTA officers in schools are in the front line of PTA activities and as such will be more capable to make informed decisions about matters concerning the group,” said Mr. Benavente.
He added that the reorganization is a “turning point” for the PTA group.
“This is aimed to rejuvenate and elaborate the efforts of the officers and the council as a whole,” he added.
After the election of officers, the new leadership is expected to sit down and review existing by laws and plan ahead on future activities. (MM)
