Police may be able to resolve the William S. Reyes Elementary School burglary this week as investigators recovered some of the stolen equipment and obtained confessions from some of the suspects.

According to Police Capt. Delbert Sablan, the suspects may be arrested this week as investigators have already identified the suspects. Most of the equipment which were stolen and sold to different people have been recovered by the police over the weekend which include television set, computers and air con units.

The police asked the school authorities to submit an inventory of the equipment missing in the school.

Initial investigation showed that school authorities discovered that the school has been vandalized and burglarized on Dec. 19, 2000. However, police found out that theft and burglary have occurred about three to five times before the school authorities discovered the biggest haul made by the robbers.

Capt. Sablan said the robbers first vandalized the school and got hold of the keys. They came back and started stealing the school’s equipment as well as personal belongings of the teachers as they ransacked at least five rooms of the WSR.

School authorities were at first insisting that it was the work of students but police believed all along that it was perpetrated by professional robbers who may have something to do with the spate of robberies on the island.

Meanwhile, investigators said they have also gathered enough evidence that will pin down the people responsible for the arrest of suspects in the burglary of the Mayor’s shop in San Antonio.

Police have already identified one of the suspects who took some $3,000 worth of three air con units, six boxes of brake fluids and one car battery.

According to the police, the robbers got hold of the key to the Federal Management Administration Office since there was no sign of forcible entry. (Lindablue F. Romero)
