Non-resident Workers and the Future
The business community which sorely requires these non-resident workers feels helpless in the quagmire of an unstable labor pool. Once the CNMI was noted for its labor force stability which acted as an inducement for investors to come here. Do other countries face similar migratory labor force problems?
In Western Europe a wide range of industrial and service companies depend on immigrant labor. For example, in Germany automobiles would not be assembled, and other industries would not be staffed without an influx of Turkish workers, and former Yugoslav states workers and from elsewhere in Eastern Europe. France obtains most of its non-resident workers from North Africa, while Italy reaches out to Africa also. Britain recruits from India and former residents from
