Dr. David Southcott arrived on Saipan last week and has signed a contract to provide full-time radiology services at the Commonwealth Health Center.

Dr. Southcott is the hospital’s and the Commonwealth’s first full-time Radiologist in over a year.

There is a nation-wide shortage of radiologists and finding one with broad-based skills like in mammography, invasive procedures, CT, and Ultrasound, has been a difficult task, according to a media statement released by the health department.

Dr. Southcott went to medical school at the University of Western Ontario in Canada and completed his Radiology residency at the University of Ottawa also in Canada.

He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Dr. Southcott joins the Northern Marianas community from Windsor, Canada. He was in private diagnostic radiology for 15 years there.
