Continental has offered to help in the relief effort after last month’s earthquake in India. The airline will fly supplies collected on Guam to Narita, Japan, where the cargo will be loaded onto a FedEx aircraft bound for Bhuj, India, the site of the Jan. 26 tremor.

The Indian Association of Guam has designated the Levi’s Outlet at the Guam Premium Outlets as the collection site for clothes, blankets, vegetarian canned goods and other non-perishable essentials until Feb. 11.

The goods will be transported to the Continental Cargo Building and will board flight 967 which will depart for Narita at 5:10pm on Feb. 13.

“Transporting these vital items to the survivors of the Bhuj remblor is our way of showing Continental’s support for the Indian community,” said airline staff vice president of sales and promotions Walter Dias.

“We are grateful that FedEx has joined us in this important mission to help the Bhuj earthquake victims get the provisions they so urgently need,” added Mr. Dias.

He went on to explain that the airline’s commitment to assisting in humanitarian relief efforts is worldwide. “In fact, Continental in the mainland has also pledged support in providing cargo space for supplies bound for El Salvador folloring a January earthquake there.”
