Japanese wins in 75-km Rota bike race
Miyazawa Hideo of Japan edged out other bikers to grab victory in the second Annual Green Mountain Bike Race held in Rota over the weekend.
Mr. Hideo finished the 75-kilometer bike race in a little over two hours and 20 minutes, while second placer Marc Dimotosa of Saipan came in two minutes later.
The race started at 6:30am from the Rota Round House to Sabana Hill, to As Matmos Cliff Point back around through Taga Stone Quarry then past Ponia Point and Rota Zoo then through Sonsong Village back to Rota Round House for the finish.
The last biker came in just under four hours. The race drew participants from Japan, Saipan, Rota and Guam which brought Guam a group of junior bikers who were mostly first-time participants in an MTB Race outside Guam.
An Awards Banquet hosted by the Mayor of Rota at Guata Beach Park followed afterwards. The race was organized by KFC Triathlon Club of Japan, the Rota Mayor’s Office and MVA Rota office.
Jr. Golf League begins Spring Season
The Northern Marianas Junior Golf League’s Spring Season is underway. There are still number of openings for kids age 7-17 in the Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced player groups. Saipan Little League Baseball Meet
Managers for the 2001 Saipan Little League Baseball ages 9-12, Junior League ages 13-14, Senior League ages 15-16, and Big League ages 17-18 are asked to attend a mandatory meeting on Saturday, Feb. 10, 9:00am at the Ada Gym conference room.
