Congressmen with highest number of bills filed named
A resolution has been introduced in the House of Representatives commending Rep. Jesus T. Attao for having authored the most number of bills and having the most number of legislation enacted into law.
Mr. Attao has filed 361 bills in all of his terms as congressman; 51 of which had been signed into law. He topped the list of congressmen from the First to the Twelfth CNMI House of Representatives who have had the most number of bills filed and the most number of enacted legislation.
According to House Resolution 12-120 introduced by Rep. Thomas B. Pangelinan, Mr. Attao should be conferred the title “Prime Lawmaker” for his preeminent role in the creation of Commonwealth laws.
Former congressman Vicente Sablan ranked second to Mr. Attao having authored 193 bills; 41 of which were signed into law. Rep. Dino Jones came in third with 149 bills filed and authored 41 public laws.
Also in the top 10 list of current and former congressmen who had filed and authored the most number of bills and public laws are: Pedro T. Nakatsukasa, 137 bills, nine laws; Rep. Oscar M. Babauta, 119 bills, 21 public laws; Rep. Heinz Hofschneider 119 bills, 33 public laws; Manuel A. Tenorio, 118 bills, 16 public laws, Rep. David M. Apatang, 111 bills, 16 public laws; Speaker Benigno R. Fitial, 94 bills and 20 public laws; and Sen. Pete P. Reyes, 92 bills, 15 public laws.
