Welcome back. Happy Valentines Day! I hope your week is going well.

This week we are going to talk about what one might expect to see at the upcoming MacWorld to be held in Tokyo.

But first………

If you are looking for some beautiful pictures of Saipan, go to: (http://www.saipanphoto.com )
I would also like to remind everyone that all the year 2000 and afterarticles on the website ( http://www.mespn.com/forms/tech articles ) are now searchable by keyword(s) or article date. This has been requested a number of times from many of my loyal readers, and now it is available, check it out as well as the online version of the Saipan Tribune, which you can access by clicking the banner on that same page.

This week

Ok, let see the hands of those planning to attend MacWorld in Tokyo Japan. Come on, don’t be shy… How many of you attended MacWorld in San Francisco. If you were not there you missed the 93,000+ crowd, being able to be one of the first to touch and use the new Titanium PowerBook G4, as well as many other new innovations from Apple and others.
All right, back to Tokyo. You do know that Steve Jobs will be giving the main keynote? Do I need to say more? You know if Steve is going to speak then we can expect some new goodies!

New iMacs?

Lets see, I think we may see some new iMac models. Of course, larger hard drives are the order of the day. More standard memory will probably be a good thing as well. Remember I told you a few articles back that memory is available at rock bottom prices, well…. What are you waiting for?

The entry iMac will probably still contain a CDROM drive, with a larger hard drive then is now available in the standard configuration.

The next levels of iMacs may see CD-RW drives, so one can write their own CDs with movies, Mpg3 songs, and backup files. Just imagine having 100s of songs on a CD instead of only a few! How about being able to make backups that can last for ??? Who knows how long. These really can be called archives…

How many of you have longed that the iMac had a larger screen? Well, you may get your wish.

PowerBook

You will see the Titanium PowerBook G4 all over the place……I am sure Steve will probably show it at the keynote as well…..

MacOSX

We should all know MacOSX will be released on March 24th, 2001. I am sure Steve will give more OSX demos at MacWorld in Tokyo. He may even be showing the golden master!

G4 Cubes

Will we see new Cubes? I am guessing, maybe not. Some of the new needed may not be ready in time….. But, hey I could be wrong…

Airport

Apple’s wireless solution Airport may get an upgrade. Lucent Technologies announced a way to consolidate the chips used in the airport, so we may see a new smaller Airport with maybe twice the range, a 300 foot radius instead of a 150 foot radius….

Third party goodies

Of course there will be the plethora of software and hardware from other companies. Expect to see more and more software for native MacOSX. As the time for MacOSX release arrives, more and more software will be available. Even Windows users are looking at MacOSX with envy…. Just think being able to run Microsoft Office Suite on MacOSX, all of the Adobe products, of course thousands and thousands of software products will also work in the “Classic” environment, and it will be Mac OS 9.1?

Note: All the above are only predictions, they are not official announcements in any way. We may see all , some or none of the above as predicted…..
