Youths' role in farming stressed

Stressing the active role the young generation will take part on agricultural education, Lt. Gov. Jesus R. Sablan endorsed Feb. 17 to 24 as National Future Farmers of America Week.

Stressing the active role the young generation will take part on agricultural education, Lt. Gov. Jesus R. Sablan endorsed Feb. 17 to 24 as National Future Farmers of America Week.

In a proclamation signed Wednesday, Mr. Sablan cited the significance of FFA and agricultural education that provide a strong foundation for the youth of America.

In addition, the agricultural education also promotes the future of the food, fiber, and natural resources system which plays a significant role in the future of American agriculture.

Mr. Sablan also stressed FFA’s continued effort to promote leadership, personal growth and career success among its members as it continuously ensure a steady supply of young professionals to meet the growing demands in the science, business and technology of agriculture.

“Learning to do, doing to learn, earning to live, living to serve gives direction of purpose to these students who take an active role in succeeding in agricultural education,” he said.

He also acknowledged FFA’s endeavor to promote citizenship, volunteerism, patriotism and cooperation not only to its students but to other citizens as well.

Because of the agricultural education’s continued support to assist the country to grow and to live, Mr. Sablan proclaimed Feb. 17-24 as the NFFA Week and urged all citizens particularly the youth to take part and acknowledge the significance of the celebration.

In addition, he urged the public to hold appropriate ceremonies and events to recognize the future farmers of the CNMI. (EGA)
