Cops arrest reckless driver
A 47-year-old woman was swept to the side of the road while walking in Chalan Kanoa Friday morning, when she attempted to evade a vehicle that allegedly tried to run her over.
The automobile’s driver was apparently drunk, according to police.
Reports said the lady was headed home from Farmers Market in CK when a gray Subaru sedan started to follow her.
Soon, the victim noticed the vehicle approaching her from behind, at high speed approaching her direction, DPS reported.
In a bid to escape, the woman ended up jumping to the nearby bushes.
According to the victim, the driver allegedly stuck his head out and began yelling profanity at her.
When the lady fled the scene to seek for husband’s aide, the suspect reportedly stalked her all the way to her house where he allegedly challenged the husband for a fist fight outdoors.
The 29-year-old Filipino suspect, according to the victim, even took out a $5-bill from his pocket and started flashing it in front of the lady’s face, uttering the words: “Here, why don’t you go play poker,” in between curses.
The couple claimed the suspect was their friend.
Another pedestrian accident
The Department of Public Safety recorded yet another pedestrian accident case involving a 24-year-old Carolinian male at the Chalan Kiya traffic signal light intersection last Sunday.
DPS spokesperson Cecil Celes reported that a local male was attempting to cross the street headed north on the pedestrian crosswalk when a 1994 Mitsubishi passenger wagon moved forward to the left turn lane and struck the victim.
The vehicle was operated by a 53-year-old Chinese male.
The victim sustained minor injuries and was transported to the Commonwealth Health Center for treatment, and was later on discharged.
