Guam gunman shoots six at clinic

HAGATNA (AP) — A former employee shot six people, killing one woman, at a medical clinic before being shot and wounded by police Monday, authorities said.

Five of the victims were shot on the second floor of the two-story Seventh Day Adventist Clinic, while the sixth, a man who had been taken hostage, and the gunman were shot on the first floor, Officer A.J. Balajadia said.

The survivors were taken to Guam Memorial Hospital, where a spokeswoman said condition reports were not immediately available.

The wounded were being treated by clinic doctors and police were evacuating the building by the time the gunman was wounded, he said.

The shooting began about 11:30 a.m. and ended about 30 minutes later, Balajadia said.
