Red Cross helps people in need
“We’ll be there!” This is the slogan of the American Red Cross which stood by with the victims of the recent two house fires.
On Feb. 22, the Red Cross staff was informed about a house fire in the China Town area. Four Red Cross volunteers arrived on the scene a few minutes after they received the call. They immediately assisted the 12 people affected by the incident with temporary shelter, food, clothing and bedding and other emergency needs.
Another call was received on the night of Feb. 28. Again, Red Cross was there to help the affected family.
The American Red Cross is not a government agency. The disaster relief provided by the Northern Mariana Islands Chapter is free of charge and is made possible by the generosity of the people of the Commonwealth.
Anyone who wishes to make monetary contribution to the NMI Chapter of the American Red Cross may do so by mailing check to PO. Box 500814 Saipan MP 96950 and anyone who wishes to become a may call 234-3459 or stop by at the office at Airport road.
SS rep to visit Rota, Tinian
A Social Security Representative will be making visits to Rota and Tinian this week and next week. The representative will be available to receive applications for SS numbers, to discuss social security and SSI benefits and to provide information about the programs administered by the Social Security.
The representative will visit Rota on March 9 and will be available from 9:00am to 12:00 noon at the Aging Office in Songsong Village, then on March 12 in Tinian from 9:15am to 11:30am at the CCA Office at the gym in San Jose village.
OES PTSA meeting
The principal of Oleai Elementary School informs parents and guardians that there will be a PTSA meeting on March 13 at 6:00pm at the school cafeteria. Everyone is encouraged to attend.
