Beach fale owners sign up with Samoa hotel group
APIA, Samoa (PINA Nius) — Beach fale owners are hearing the merits of belonging to the Samoa Hotel Association – and signing up.
Samoa Hotel Association executives visited properties in Savaii and Upolu, and, as a result, have already signed up six new members. This brings the total Samoa Hotel Association membership to 27 properties.
Va‘asilifiti Moelagi Jackson said it was a wonderful opportunity for the Samoa Hotel Association to meet face to face with beach fale owners in Upolu.
The occasion “let them know the association is committed to assisting and sharing information with all sectors of the accommodation industry, from beach fales through to resorts and hotels,” Va‘asilifiti said.
“When we work together as one united voice for the industry, we can achieve goals and put in place standards, which encourage our visitors to return to Samoa again and again.”
The Samoa Hotel Association executive also took the opportunity to outline benefits of membership of the association. One is an individual listing on the association’s website www.samoahotels.ws, currently being aggressively marketed worldwide.
Another benefit offered to beach fale owners is assistance with affordable brochure marketing, on an individual basis.
On a less positive note, one concern raised time and time again, in both Savaii and Upolu, was the ongoing lack of access to telephone communications and reliable water supplies.
One beach fale owner made a plea to the Samoa Hotel Association for help in this area: “Please, please can you help us. We don’ know who else to turn to as our request for a telephone service falls on deaf ears time and time again.”
