The Ambyth Group has announced two new management appointments for its Saipan and Guam shipping operations.

Matthew Guanci was named assistant manager of agency operations of Ambyth Shipping & Trading on Guam, while Fred Taitague has been hired as agency and logistics manager for the Saipan office of Ambyth Micronesia, Inc.

Mr. Guanci’s emphasis with Ambyth will be on operations and the support agency side of the business. A former merchant marine with extensive experience at sea, he spent four years with the Military Sealift Command as a 2nd and 3rd officer aboard a variety of Naval Auxiliary Underway Replenishment vessels.

Mr. Guanci also worked with Crowley Marine as a dive tender/laborer and Tidewater Marine as an able seaman in the Gulf of Mexico. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation from the California Maritime Academy as well as various licenses from the US Coast Guard, including 1600 Ton Master, Ocean Steam or Motor, and 2nd Mate, Unlimited Tonnage.

Mr. Taitague has a solid background in management and finance. He will oversee Ambyth’s agency division, as well as trucking and freight forwarding operations on Saipan.

His most recent employment was with Pacific Financial Corporation as a credit officer. Prior to that, he ran his own business for eight years, Taitague Bus Sales on Guam. He also spent several years with Bankcorp Leasing of Hawaii-Guam, Inc. and was a former general manager of the Bank of the Orient in Guam, where he managed a staff of 50.

Ambyth Shipping & Trading began operations on Guam in 1974 and expanded its operations to Saipan, opening Ambyth Shipping Micronesia, Inc. in 1987.

In addition to being a shipping agency, Ambyth owns and operates a number of other companies that provide a full range of shipping services such as ship repair & maintenance, air & sea freight forwarding, and trucking & warehousing.
