The American Red Cross yesterday announced that the Northern Marianas Chapter is holding its 15th Annual Walkathon on April 21 at the Beach Road pathway starting from kilili Beach by the 4-H building.

For the last few years the Red Cross Walkathon has drawn the attendance of the island’s youths and the entire community in the hundreds.

Walkathon Committee Chair Dora Borja said “The purpose of the event is to promote Red Cross to the community as well as to encourage healthy behavior among our youths. When someone in the community can bring activities such as walking into their life, the chances of an emergency requiring CPR decreases. It’s all tied together in the Red Cross mission of helping people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.”

Walkathon forms will be available by the third week of March and anyone interested in sponsoring the event, joining the planning committee or in volunteering is encouraged to call the chapter at 234-3459.
